WASHINGTON — An anti-impotence drug that is marketed under the brand name Viagra is facing an increased push to reach the US market.
The Food and Drug Administration, the world's biggest agency, has been asked to weigh the potential benefits and risks of a drug that would make it harder for men to get the prescription medications they need.
"The drug Viagra is a new option for treating erectile dysfunction. In order to obtain this, the drug must be taken for at least 30 days and then must be discontinued at the same time every day," the agency said on Monday.
Viagra is a generic version of the prescription drug that Pfizer launched in 1998.
Since then, more than a million men in the US have been prescribed Viagra for the treatment of ED.
Pfizer, which makes Viagra, said the drug's side effects were similar to those of other similar drugs such as the painkillers codeine and ibuprofen.
The drug, which has been nicknamed "the 'Viagra headache,'" may actually be used by a group of men who are more likely to get ED, say doctors at a Cleveland Clinic clinical trial.
"Many men report side effects, and the FDA has been very careful to warn these men of this drug," Dr. Elizabeth Kavaler, a urologist with the American Urological Association, a trade group representing the American Urological Association, told NBC News.
She said that she was not aware of any studies on Viagra-related side effects, but that it was being used as a "pharmaceutical alternative."
But, she said, some men have reported that they have taken Viagra-like drugs in recent months, such as those that are marketed under the brand name Levitra or Cialis.
Viagra is the only drug approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in the United States.
But that approval has been delayed by a decision by the FDA that the drug should not be sold under the brand name Levitra. Pfizer said on Monday it would move ahead with the drug and will update its stock prices to reflect the decision.
Pfizer said its decision to move ahead with the drug comes after a study by the American Urological Association showed that men who took Viagra, such as those taking Cialis or Viagra, were about three times more likely to get ED than those who did not take the drug.
The study, which was conducted at the University of Cincinnati, found that men who took Viagra reported that they had more frequent erections compared to men who did not take the drug.
Men who took Viagra were about twice as likely to have a new-onset erectile disorder than those who did not take the drug.
Viagra has been shown to be effective for some men, but only for the temporary relief of a few. It can be used for as long as three to five days, but it should not be taken more than once a day.
But the drug has also been used for some men in the past, with men who had ED becoming resistant to the drug or have had side effects from taking Viagra.
Pfizer said it would update the stock prices of its stock and stock of its generic drug, which is called Viagra, to reflect the decision.
"We do not have an immediate, immediate, permanent fix on the problem," said Dr. Elizabeth Kavaler, a urologist at the Cleveland Clinic and a member of the American Urological Association. "If we continue to be focused on these issues, then it's time for other things, like Pfizer to take their lead in the battle against ED."
The FDA said it was not aware of any studies that directly compared the side effects of the drugs.
Viagra's side effects were similar to those of other similar drugs, such as the painkillers codeine and ibuprofen.

Viagra Pill InformationSildenafil works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, allowing increased blood flow and resulting in a harder, longer-lasting erection. Sildenafil’s effects typically last for about 4 to 6 hours, and its duration of action can range from 2 to 4 hours. The medication’s side effects typically resolve within 30 minutes of taking the pill. However, some men may experience side effects that persist for a longer duration. The medication may also cause side effects that last for up to 36 hours, although these are rare. It is important to note that Sildenafil does not cause an erection on its own. Instead, it enhances the blood flow by relaxing the blood vessels, which in turn enhances the natural response to sexual stimulation. This makes the medication effective for men with ED and may help improve erectile function for those struggling with the challenges of erectile dysfunction.
Sildenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor. The medication works by increasing blood flow to the penis, helping to achieve and maintain an erection. Unlike other medications that work by increasing blood flow, Sildenafil does not cause an erection on its own. Instead, it enhances the blood flow by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, which in turn enhances the natural response to sexual stimulation.
Sildenafil has been shown to be effective in many clinical trials for treating erectile dysfunction. The effectiveness of Sildenafil in trials included improved erections, increased confidence in sexual encounters, and improved overall sexual satisfaction. Sildenafil is also widely used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, a condition that causes high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. By relaxing blood vessels, Sildenafil helps improve blood flow to the lungs and improve exercise capacity in individuals with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Sildenafil is typically taken for 5 to 10 days before anticipated sexual activity. It is important to follow the recommended dosage and duration of treatment as determined by your healthcare provider or as directed by your healthcare provider.
